Great things come in small packages

Welcome

The Sagaponack School is one of the few remaining public one-room school houses in the country. Known locally as “the Little Red Schoolhouse,” the Sagaponack School educates children in grades K-3 in an intimate and nurturing environment that combines an historic setting with a rich and varied curriculum. With a low student-teacher ratio and an open floor plan for all grade levels, Sagg Kids receive the individual attention they need to meet—and in most cases exceed—New York State educational standards for elementary education.

Words of experience from our school community

"The close-knit community at the Sagg School is like a second family—they do everything in their power to make you happy while showing you that school can be fun, exciting, and challenging all at once. In my four years at the Little Red Schoolhouse, I formed lasting friendships with other kids regardless of our age differences, and was provided with a work ethic and genuine love for learning that has guided me at every step in my education."
Jack Louchheim
Alumni
“Sagg school provides a nurturing environment for learning. It's small size and various ages teaches the children not only to help one another, but also the importance of not being afraid to "ask for help"...a must needed life skill! For over 155 years our "little red schoolhouse" has taught so many children to love school.”
Ellen Wilford
Parent
"It has been a pleasure to become more involved with the Sagg School as the community representative on the Shared Decision-Making Committee. As a fairly new member of the SDMC, it has been eye-opening to see the depth of devotion and commitment shown by the teachers, staff and administration to the students in all aspects of school life."
